Furzey Gardens in the New Forest

Our second visit was to Furzey Gardens where there are plenty of winding paths bordered by a wide variety of shrubs and trees, there's also a handy guide given to you as you arrive highlighting summer Plants-of-Interest_summer_2024_LR.pdf. One of these is Cornus kousa seen below:

It gives a magnificent display, there's also Cornus kousa 'Miss Satomi' which has pink flowers.
There was at least one example of a very healthy bushy Cytisus Battandierii or pineapple broom with pineapple scented flowers which look like a very yellow pineapple. I have one on a long stalk when clearly I should transplant it and allow it to fulfill its bushy potential.
We thoroughly enjoyed walking through the meadows with their mown paths meaning you could enjoy immersion in the meadow, We saw several varieties of orchid in the grassy areas.
There are activities at Furzey Gardens to entertain children like this rustic walkway:

We had an excellent lunch at the tea rooms and I bought a tea towel from the shop. The plant sales were excellent, lovely big plants at reasonable prices and lots of seeds collected on site for sale. I bought a white campion and a blue sisyrinchium. The gardens help run workshops organised by Minstead Trust for people with learning disabilities.
