Visit to Laugharne

Laugharne is a village on the Taf estuary, famous because it's where Dylan Thomas spent much of his adult life. It's further west along the coast from Swansea, and is a lovely place to stay. It's very quiet and unspoilt in April and I'd thoroughly recommend it. We stayed on one of the lanes near the churchyard in a very quiet spot perfect for walking into and around the village. The remains of Laugharne Castle look fabulous against a blue sky:

Just behind the castle, there's a walk along by the estuary which takes you to Dylan's Writing Shed
and below there you can see The Boathouse where he and his wife Caitlin lived for some of their time in Laugharne
I loved this fern unfurling
This is the grave of Caitlin and Dylan Thomas. Dylan lived from 1914-1953 and Caitlin lived until 1994 and was being buried on one of our visits to Laugharne, it was quite a shock to discover this was 30 years ago!!
I like this photo of Tim with Roxie outside the castle
Tim liked this stone bust of Dylan Thomas
Brown's Hotel, still in the High Street is where Caitlin and Dylan liked to drink and here's one of the photos of them on the wall in the hotel.
There's a lovely walk towards Pendine Sands, this is the frist part of it
There were early purple orchids in flower in the woods above Laugharne
And here's Roxie looking splendid on Pendine Sands wondering whether to venture into the water and deciding against it.
Definitely a place I like returning to.
