Mr Cod Tidy up

Last Monday we met at Mr Cod to cut back the dead growth from last year to make way for the emerging daffodils and Alliums. This time instead of taking away the trimmings from the site, we constructed a cage with chicken wire held together with bamboo sticks and put all  pruned materials in there. That way any overwintering insects can still stay onsite, and we have hopefully made a good place for things to survive until spring. It's hard to photograph the chicken wire cage, but here's an attempt:

and some general photos of Jane and Angela:
It was a bit cold and I was braced for doing the garden on my own, but it was great they came along to help.
We have a lot more tidying up of other beds to do ahead of the bulbs emerging
A reminder that Old Town Community Gardeners meet every Monday afternoon at 1.30pm at one of our gardens.
Tomorrow 15 January we'll be meeting at the Marriott beds for more cutting back.
