Snowdrop Sunday at Twigs

Last Sunday, Twigs Community Gardens held their Snowdrop Sunday event, where they raised just over £800 which was a tremendous achievement considering the fact the weather was wet and windy. It wasn't a good day to appreciate snowdrops, but I tried to capture the gardens in photos as I dodged the rain. I altogether missed the snowdrop theatre arranged with named snowdrops by a volunteer, if you click on the link to the website, you can see it. I'm starting with a photo of the kokedama, seen below in a wreath arrangement.

There's a wonderful multi media peacock, I do hope that has survived storm Eunice.
There were lovely labels introducing some of the varieties of snowdrops, like this one introducing Galanthus woronowii, a species snowdrop covering north-east Turkey among other places, named after Russian botanist Mr Woronow
It can be distinguished from other snowdrops by its very bright mid green leaves
Here's another lovely arrangement
The mound covered in a line of snowdrops
and this is rather lovely, doesn't the paving look good?
The refreshments were wonderful as ever, fabulous cake, I bought a Valentine's wreath and some plants at the very keenly priced 6 for £10. If you missed visiting last Sunday, Twigs are open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am until 3.30pm
