Camassias along the Eastern Flyer Route

A number of years ago, bulbs were planted in a long strip alongside the old canal path from Queens Drive, near the Magic Roundabout to Ocotal Way. The other day when I walked along there, I noticed they are still looking fabulous, and wondered how many people knew they were there, or had noticed them?

I tried looking up when they were planted, but could find no photos of grinning gardeners beside them, all I could find was mention of the Swindon Flyers, the excellent transport routes for walking and cycling around Swindon.

This path lies along the Eastern Flyer which according the website 'Eastern Flyer The 2 and a half mile route of the Eastern Flyer uses quiet side streets from Whalebridge (opposite Jurys Inn) then goes around the Magic Roundabout and follows the old canal route from Queens Drive to Greenbridge. The route continues alongside Oxford Road to the White Hart roundabout.'

It's peak Camassia time just now, they are looking fabulous:

there are also some pheasant's eye narcissi in flower
and the odd tulip was spotted.
An altogether wonderful place to walk.
Plenty of nectar rich flowers for pollinators there as well.
The reason I particularly noticed these flowers years ago was because the canal path runs along the back of the Shrivenham Road allotments, where I have an allotment.
