#SixOnSaturday after some Rain

I'm not sure how long it was since we'd had what I call 'proper' rain, and I know we did have a lot in the winter, but we've had at least a month without rain, and many hot, sunny days. I'm pleased to say though, over the last couple of days, we have had enough rain to perk up many plants that were looking as though they really needed water.
So this morning's trip round the garden looking for #SixOnSaturday candidates was enjoyable as ever, nothing looked as though it was wilting, but conditions for taking photos weren't great.
So here's my selection:
I have bought quite a few Acers over the years, usually mass produced ones, but they have been fantastic. I try not to let them get too pot bound, and water them well when it's dry. I have some in pots by the back door, where they currently light up the small area. This is the most splendid one, and beside it, there's one with thinner leaves, the same colour which maybe can't be seen,
This Akebia quintata is a bit of a fraud because it made it last week as well, but this week the flowers have opened more, and with wet leaves, I thought it looked amazingly good.
Above is a tree peony which needs staking, and although you can't really see how wonderful it is, I'm so pleased with it. It came as a free gift with an order from Parkers, about 10 years ago, and has always struggled to thrive, but has really turned a corner and is shaping up nicely, apart from the fact it grows away from the laurel hedge behind it.
This lovely clump of Cammasias doesn't look that impressive without sunshine, but again is a real triumph because a tiny clump with two flower heads has multiplied into something quite stunning.
I'm very keen on ferns, and am getting a bit of a collection, the big bonus is when you see them unfurling in spring, nothing can quite beat that process.
Well there's a bit of a green them today because the Hostas are also emerging really quickly, and although they are not unfurling, they have their own way of growing really quickly which is very impressive. Which brings us to the collage:
and those which didn't make it, another of the Acers by the back door which didn't look as good as the red one

a lovely Tiarella in the front garden with fantastic flower spikes.
and Dicentra/ bleeding heart/Lamprocapnos variety 'Valentine' which didn't look good in the photo but looks fantastic in real life.
Don't forget to look at The Propagator's #SixOnSaturday choice. He's had a delivery from Fibrex Nursery, well worth a visit when we're out of lockdown. I had a fabulous trip there a couple of years ago, still got lots of their pellies doing really well.
