Uffington White Horse Painting

On the 16 March before lock down, we were social distancing, but it was still possible to take advantage of one of the first sunny days after a winter of perpetual dull skies and rain, and drive out to Uffington White Horse. Tim had been commissioned to paint the white horse, and so armed with a canvas sat down at this position on the hill looking at it. I tried photographing the view, but my phone camera has flattened the hill, and it's not easy to see how anyone could do much from this vantage point, the horse seems to have disappeared.
I left him to get on with the painting and walked up the hill and along the Ridgeway, turning right into a wood where there were some lovely blue Scilla flowers, also difficult to see!!
Coming back to the white horse, there were some fabulous views over the plain with the outline of the horse just visible
I love this view from the hill showing the valleys in sharp relief
Tim started the painting on the spot and worked on it when he got home, here is the finished painting:
I am filled with admiration.
