Southcombe Barn visit

The third garden we visited on our 2024 Garden Tour was Southcombe Barn, a 5 acre garden which as well as having a lovely meadow with walks mown through, a wooded area and a special apothecary garden on a hillside where dyes and medicinal plants are grown also has an artist in residence, runs courses and has accommodation. It was open for the NGS last year and is open again this year on Fridays in June.

This was looking down on the apothecary garden
as we walked in there were glorious daisies and wild flowers in abundance
and we were rewarded with at least one early purple spotted orchid
and these looked lovely although I'm not sure what they were. We could have stopped for refreshments at Southcombe Barn but were headed for Dartington Hall next and wanted to get there in time to enjoy it.
