Christmas Tree Update 2023

One of the lovely things about having a blog is that it provides a record of things that have been happening, and I can look them up if necessary. I really like having a living Christmas tree and have tried keeping the same one going for several years, since 2015 as it turns out. In 2021, I looked up old photos of the tree, if you click on this link, you can see the growth of the tree over the years: The same Christmas Tree since 2015 at least! (kasmaty.blogspot.com) by my reckoning, the tree has been used for nine Christmases.

Last year the tree was sited in the hall because Roxie was a puppy and needed easy access to the garden. This year the tree is back in the living room now that Roxie has grown up. The tree looks very healthy, but has grown a bit unevenly, here it is in the garden before being brought in:

The gap between the main part of the tree and the top seems to have got quite extended and so there isn't much clearance between the tree and the ceiling
Tim agreed to take on the job of adding decorations to the tree when I had added the lights, I think he may have added too many baubles at the ends of branches pulling them down and making the tree look a bit unbalanced:
Here's a comparison with the tree in 2015:
The tree was very sweet in 2015, looking at it makes me want to buy another small one and start again but that defeats the idea of having a sustainable Christmas tree. The tree has to be dug up every year to trim it's roots and effectively bonsai it, otherwise it would be like the tree at the other Christmas tree bottom of the garden which previous owners of the house planted years ago; it dominates the garden and is completely out of keeping with the rest of the garden.
