Part 2 Visiting each others Gardens

This post is part 2 of a tour of gardens which opened on Sunday 9 July this year for Old Town Open Gardens; there were too many photos to include in the first post, so here are more, starting with the garden in The Quarries with lots of borrowed landscape from Town Gardens, it's a beautiful garden with many rooms with different moods in each one.

There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the garden like this gazebo in the front garden
and this swinging seat nearby, and a small courtyard garden at the beginning of the back garden
These lilies were in a pot and gave a wonderful splash of colour
There are lots of interesting features nearer the end of the garden, but we moved on then to my garden which I didn't photograph at all! And from here to a garden on two levels near Lawn, below you can see the higher level part of the garden with fruit and vegetables and a bit of rewilded lawn
There's also some water surrounded by an interesting mix of succulents
We then moved onto Lakeside to a beautiful garden, again with borrowed landscape of woods
Don't you love this fairy tale summer house? What a lovely place to retreat at any time of year immersed in the garden
The bed at the end has lots of agapanthus in it; they are flowering wonderfully just now
From Lakeside, we moved to a garden along Marlborough Road; new to open gardens, it has lots of very interesting features and experiments in growing wild flowers for pollinators and vegetables
Above is the pond, and below a clematis covered arbour
Susanne and Josie looking at the border which has been planted as a wild flower meadow
More clematis
and a rare photograph of some of the group looking at Josie's garden
Josie organises Swindon Growers Drinks, so there was a reminder about the dates; there's one on the 27 August at the Beehive from 7-9pm
And last but by no means least, hollyhocks in Holly's garden where we met on Sunday evening after open gardens; when Holly showed us round for some reason I didn't manage to take photos of her extraordinary garden
So there we are, I have finally shared the photos I took of some of the beautiful gardens which took part in Old Town Open Gardens 2023. The event reminds us of how much we love gardens and how much dedication goes into creating wonderful gardens. I'm hoping we can have another event in 2024, could you take part next year? Please get in touch if you could do so? Remember we are are raising funds for charities like TWIGS and OTRA Gardens who couldn't operate without funding from open gardens and plant sales. This year we donated £1800 to TWIGS and raised £900 for OTRA gardens
