We're now officially in Snowdrop Season and wherever you go, you will see snowdrops. I'm a real galanthophile and particularly enjoy visiting gardens where they specialise in different varieties of snowdrops as well as having carpets of them. Cerney House Gardens is a great place to visit, just north of Cirencester; they are open 7 days a week from 10am-7pm, or dusk in the winter months. Recently they have revamped their signage and got a really substantial plant sales table, always a draw when visiting gardens! I visited with grandchildren, daughter and husband last Sunday and included a few photos of them, although I don't usually do this on the blog, I don't think they can be identified. Here are the photos:
Above snowdrops and hellebores, although you can't really see eitherI love the photo above, it was a spontaneous sitting on the tree trunk, and not posedSnowdrops and trees with sunlight coming through, a winning combo
Love this cockerel on the lawn in front of the house
The magnificent Cerney House
Lovely to see the next generation taking an interest in snowdrops and realising that there are so many different varieties
Another photo, this time of Ellie
and here's the snowdrop I bought, it's G. Warei, I'm enjoying it in the kitchen before I plant it out:If you like snowdrops and identifying different varieties, I'd recommend buying a copy of 'A Gardener's Guide to Snowdrops' by Freda Cox where you'll find beautiful drawings of the snowdrops with their descriptions.
