Sidmouth on Sunday

Delivering paintings to an exhibition in the rather wonderful Kennaway House in Sidmouth at 1pm today, left us time to explore Sidmouth. Firstly, we needed to find a car park, and discovered a lovely one up Peak Hill Road, and from there walked through the woods to the coastal path, into Sidmouth, along the front and up Salcombe Hill where the views were wonderful. If the paintings sell, we won't be going back, but if they don't, we will go and stay overnight when we pick them up and explore more of Sidmouth. I love being beside the sea, and today was one of those perfect days, a few black clouds threatened rain this afternoon, but it stayed dry and unseasonably warm.
I took a few photos while we were there, this is my favourite one, taken on the sea front looking towards Peak Hill and into the sun:
and looking the other way towards Salcombe Hill where the views are wonderful:
Looking out to sea is also a great view:
Many of the houses along the front are beautiful, this one particularly caught my eye, it's called Beach House and has a wonderful balcony, and some lovely, coloured glass in the windows
I looked it up, and found it was built in 1790, and is one of the oldest houses in Sidmouth. The stained glass windows are original, and the first floor is available to let, more details here.
