#SixOnSaturday: oh go on then

I wasn't going to do six on Saturday this week with things getting more and more shrivelled and crispy in the garden because we haven't had rain for ages and are now officially in a drought. With temperatures this week often reaching 33 degrees and now according to my phone's weather forecast at 6pm it's 35 degrees, it's hard to keep plants watered, and decisions have had to be made about which plants should be 'let go'. I certainly haven't done any gardening this week, there have been plums and courgettes to pick though, and the sweet corn is delicious

Tomatoes and cucumbers in the greenhouse are being watering, obviously, also swiss chard plants in the garden, they are food, and don't require much water. The pots are also being watered, and seedling Salvias I bought from Hayloft this week, many other things have not been saved. I potted up some begonias bought cheaply from Earle's newsagents a couple of weeks ago, my daughter will hopefully take charge of these when she's officially back from her holiday, this is one of her pots:

Campsis is looking good, well it's deep rooted and probably from somewhere hot
Morning Glory needs no introduction, and although not prolific yet, there are flowers every day
One of my wild bits with lots of wild carrot with its curled in seed heads, a lovely plant, needs no water!!
This is one of those massive Rudbeckias, bought last year from a nursery in Dorset, mostly eaten by slugs in spring, it has managed one flower head
and this is another very tall Rudbeckia, partly covering the arbour in the garden which is in shade all day and therefore heavenly at the moment.
So there are my six from a dried out garden. Let's see what the author of this scheme has for his six today by going over to his blog. Do have a look and join in. Let's hope it's cooler next week. I'm off to the coast tomorrow for a swim in the sea.

    1. Yes it's a glorious blue. There are various different blues, they all interbreed and then the self seeded ones germinate and grow each year, so I never know what will come up. Rain is really needed.
