The historic Town Gardens are currently hosting a light trail for most of December, with an opening night last night, social media was full of photographs this morning posted by people who attended. It's a fabulous trail organised especially for the town gardens by a company specially commissioned by South Swindon Parish Council to give Swindon residents a special event. The Town Gardens are presented in a way we've never seen them before, firstly because they are normally closed after dark, and because it's more than a light show, there are light sculptures, special accompanying music and effects as you make your way around the gardens. The official title is the Enchanted Gardens Light Trail which is perfect, tickets are on sale via skiddle, if you click on the link, you can choose a date and time, and a £1 from the sale of every ticket will be donated to Brighter Futures, so don't hold back, buy lots of tickets and visit more than once!!
It's a great evening out, with the Town Gardens cafe operating a special festive bap and lots of other things to eat. There's a bar and pizzas near the entrance, so it's a good idea to wait until you get there to eat. I had a mini Christmas dinner in a bap last night from the cafe, and would thoroughly recommend that. I took a few photos, I don't want to share too many because might it spoil rather than entice? I don't know, and can't decide which is my favourite view. On balance I think the experience with the disco balls at the far end of the park:
the photos don't really do it justice:
and the balls, how did they end up floating?I loved the lights in the rose garden with the interactive button
the bandstand looked wonderful from all directions and could have a blog post of its own!
and back to the beginning where the trees looked so beautiful:
I hope you go along and enjoy the show, it's wonderful.
