Coton Manor: A Gem of a Garden

We visited the last of the Suffolk Garden Tour gardens, Coton Manor, on our way home on a Friday, not ideal timing as far as traffic went, but I would not have wanted to miss it. The garden was featured in Carol Klein's Great British Gardens series in June of this year, and voted the nation's favourite garden award by the NGS in conjunction with the English Garden magazine in 2019.

We were wowed from the beginning of the visit, I'll take you round in order of the photographs which start with the terrace where there are many troughs and planters, each assembled with care and looked after perfectly, here's one which really inspired me:

I often think about combinations of colours in planters, but to find exactly the same colour of Nemesia and Convolvulus sabatius is wonderful, especially as the Convolvulous can be a bit free ranging when planted in the border.

The next trough had a lovely mixture of plants, including the trailing Geranium which I wouldn't have restricted like that, but it's thriving.
Full marks to anyone who can get a Pelargonium ardens to flower like this outside, I can barely keep them alive, inside or outside, maybe it's the poor overwintering I give them in a garage.
The pots outside a living area were lovely, reminding me that plants need room to flourish.
I didn't get the name of this Clematis
love these large bloomed Agapanthus
I think this Clematis is 'Diana'
This garden feature above, was placed in quite a shady area, and glowed as thought it had a light inside. Could it have just been the gold paint inside?
More Agapanthus, with huge blooms, it must be down to proper feeding, and watering maybe?
Beautiful Dahlia
These Martagon lilies were fabulous
Walking along one of the borders, I saw this lovely scene, an enticing view of a summerhouse.
Above more fabulous extravagance
and in this hot border, the Persicaria were really earning their living, what a fabulous show.
There were some mandarin ducks
a view of the house across the lawn
and finally a display of various plants at differing heights around a seating area. Wonderfully thought out garden and a perfect end to the Garden Tour 2021; I have planted one of the Geraniums I bought in a planter.
