Visiting Emsworth and Walking on Thorney Island

Last weekend I made my first visit to friend Lyn in Emsworth since before lockdown, we had missed a planned garden holiday to Suffolk and a week on the Isle of Wight this summer, so before the winter, I decided a visit was long overdue. Neither of us go anywhere or interact with anyone, so I felt we would be OK to spend a bit of time doing what we enjoy, walking around, visiting galleries and gardens. It was just as well we didn't pick this weekend which has been great for replenishing the water table levels, but not for being out and about.

The walkway around Thorney Island on Saturday morning was actually quite busy, not surprising since the morning was beautiful, a bit windy and cold, but sunny. The views were glorious and there were seals basking on sandbanks looking very relaxed, just lolling about.

You can see what a beautiful day it was, after the last 3 days of rain, it's hard to remember how wonderful the sun can be!!

I took various views of the beach beside the sea
and this is what the path around Thorney is like, because it's MOD territory, the public are allowed to walk around the edge but not venture off the path.

The other wonderful thing about Emsworth is the fabulous weather and sunsets. My first trip to the sea on Thursday evening was in between showers when the sky was very threatening, although it didn't rain:

That may be one of the best photographs I've ever taken, it wasn't dark, and a 90 degree turn and the day looked quite different

Later on I took a series of sunset photos from Lyn's bedroom
I do love sunsets and sunrises, how wonderful to have this view from your bedroom
It's gone now really, there might have been an afterglow, but I didn't catch it.
Emsworth is a fab place, and the walks are amazing.
