Unexpected Birthday Present

In the current lock down, it's a difficult time to celebrate a birthday, with the current self isolation and instructions to stay indoors. However I was thrilled this week to receive three presents by courier, always exciting to receive parcels isn't it? The third parcel was very unexpected and fabulous. As I opened it up, I could see amidst the shredded paper packaging green leaves and flowers.
How exciting, what could it be?
Many of you will recognise the leaves of Bergenia or Elephant's Ears
 with lovely flowers
I was quite baffled as to how my daughter, Helen, had ordered just the plants I wanted. I had seen this photo of Bergenia 'Angel Kiss' on the Tortworth Plants Twitter account, and said how lovely it was, and that I didn't have any Bergenia.
Helen saw the Tweet, and very thoughtfully ordered three plants, two 'Angel Kiss' and one 'Bressingham White'
They're now planted out in the garden:
 Above and below 'Angel Kiss'
 and here's 'Bressingham White'
 between a Primula and Muscari
I am really over the moon to receive the plants. It has made me realise that over the next few months, although we will not be able to go to the fabulous Rare Plant Fairs and buy wonderful plants such as these, it is possible to look up nurseries who would be taking part and buy plants from them online. In fact it's our duty to do so, to help keep them going at this very difficult time. I'll chart my plant buying progress in future posts.
