Highlights from the Swindon Collection in the Civic Offices

In what is described by the Swindon Borough Council as a 'pop up exhibition', the Civic Offices in Euclid Street are hosting a small exhibition of works from the Swindon Collection of 20th Century art. They went up in October, the pieces will be on display for the next six months and are free to view when the Civic is open. There's a lovely video featuring Sophie Cummings on Twitter @SwindonCouncil on 22 October, if you click on the link, you can watch the video.
I recently went to have a look.
Through the double doors, against the wood paneled walls, the paintings look great
There is room to view them
Here you can see both sides together
I took a few close ups of some of the works
Above Helen Lessore, 'The Artsist's Studio
This one above is Sylvia Gosse's 'The Printer' 1905

Above Kenneth Lindley's , 'The Alleyways, Swindon, 1958. Kenneth was one of Ken White's teachers at college.
David Rolt, 'Elms at Fresden' painted in 1978 and presented by Wiltshire Council through the National Lottery Heritage funded project 'Creative Wiltshire'
Above Royston Bizley, 'Icelandic Landscape' painted in 1992
And this one is by Sir Kyffin Williams, 'The Dark Lake' 196.
There are more pieces on show, but I picked a few. It's well worth going to have a look.
In September, an exhibition of paintings was also put up at the STEAM Museum, I haven't seen that, on the council website, it says:
'The STEAM exhibition will run for at least the next 12 months and can be viewed by anyone who visits the museum. It is included with standard admission.', and also 'The pieces on display have been selected for their connection to STEAM and their association with Swindon’s railway history.'  I can't see any mention of the paintings on the STEAM website.
