Swindon Open Studios 21/22 & 28/29 September

It's not long now until Swindon Open Studios! This weekend, 21/22 and the following weekends 28/29 September, over 100 artists will be displaying their work in a huge variety of places. Information about who's taking part and lots of news can be found by clicking on the link to the website. Brochures can also be picked up from many places around the town, and outside Swindon. There was a pile of brochures in the pub at Bishopstone last week where Ushma Sergeant is at Ye Olde Forge, Hockerbench next to the Village Hall.
The front cover depicts artwork by Caryn Koh who is showing a Mam's Gallery at Eastcott Studios on Eastcott Hill.
There's also a large poster displaying lots of different sorts of artwork on show from over 100 local artists.
Knowing that Lynette Thomas would be displaying her mosaics in the Beehive from the beginning of September, I went down there and found a wonderful array of beautiful pieces on the wall. I bought this one titled 'Honey Street', Alton Barnes. I love Honey Street and think it depicts the magic of the place wonderfully. It's great to see the fabulously situated Barge Inn is open.
This is a rather lovely piece, it says 'Procaffeinating- the tendency to not start anything until you've had a cup of coffee'
This is 'Nuada' Sun a homage to Wickerman.
Let's hope all 42 venues have lots of visitors. It might be possible to visit 10 a day, over the 4 days and see them all. I'm certainly hoping to visit a few studios.
