Godinton House and Garden

There's a stunning garden at Godinton,  we were lucky to see the delphiniums at their best, and buy some plants from the stall the local Delphinium Society had in the walled garden. We also saw orchids in the wild garden. This is what is said about it if you click on the link:
'Reginald Blomfield's strongly architectural 1900s design provides the backbone of the garden. Views out to the 18th century parkland with its ancient trees and the varying brickwork around the gardens give clues to the development of the gardens over four centuries'.
Best plants apparently are: A stunning Japanese Wisteria (Wisteria floribunda 'Multijuga') over the entrance to the Italian Garden which we just missed. A fine specimen Tulip Tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) in the wild garden, which was flowering when we were there in mid June, and  a collection of Delphiniums provided by the local branch of the Delphinium Society in the walled garden.
They were magnificent as you can see below:
and so were the glasshouses, beautifully kept

 This curved seat looked lovely
There were some late flowering aquilegias in the walled garden
There were lesser spotted orchids by the pond, these are found quite widely
but the bee orchid is quite rare
The Italian Garden is a gem within the garden,
I loved the statue and the rill down the centre

 The house is Jacobean
This rose was a delightful orange colour, so stunning people were queuing up to photograph it!
