Old Town Open Gardeners Visit more Gardens

From the tropical Kent Road garden, we moved onto Liza and Dick's interesting garden on two levels. We started in the front garden where there's a pond and rather a lovely sink covered in gravel and mud.so it looks like an ancient trough, and here are Jacquie, Liza and Patrick talking about the trough
An exuberant border in the front garden with a mixture of roses, clematis, geranium and Cephalaria gigantica
From the back of the front garden, we walked up a few steps and magically we were up in a high garden, below you can see people descending the spiral staircase
When you get down, there's a lovely sheltered courtyard garden with a dramatic clematis growing up the wall leading up to the upper garden..
From Liza's we traveled to The knoll where we were transported into Bob's atmospheric Japanese garden. How does he get the effects in the gravel? We were so lucky to see the almost black iris flowering
There are some authentic lights which illuminate the garden at night
Here's another angle showing the raked gravel and a cloud pruned bush
And here's the tea house where i would happily have stayed drinking tea!
By this time, Emily had come home from work, here we are admiring her long border. The amazing thing is that this garden is only 2 years old
 and more long border admiration
At the back of the garden is a beautifully laid out vegetable garden with a fruit cage in one corner.
Here's Emily standing in her garden looking at the asparagus bed
below Bob and Patrick admiring the fruit cage

The hidden gem is the beautiful courtyard garden with fantastic hostas and lots of interesting plants in pots.
The group then went to have tea at Pippa and Patrick's garden on Croft Road. I don't have any photos of that part because I had to go to a meeting. We didn't have a tour of my garden because most people had seen it on Saturday evening. It's amazing how different all the gardens have been, it was a great experience looking round them.
