Swindon in Bloom

Old Town Residents Association members have been involved with gardening in the Old Town area for at least 6 years, with the idea of making the area look cared for, more colourful and also to involve local residents and achieve a feeling of community. When asked by Richard Beale last year if we'd like to join a community wing of Britain in Bloom, It's Your Neighbourhood, I agreed to give it a go, and formed a Facebook page called OTRA Gardens which aims to keep people up to date with the gardens and tidying events. We were very pleased to achieve our  award last year, a Level 3 - Advancing, and aim to improve this year. Although a we were pleased with a 3 for our first attempt. The certificate is displayed at Rose Earle's newsagents in   This year South Swindon Parish Council are taking part in Swindon in Bloom.
Richard Beale, one of the Bloom judges came to discuss with some of the Parish people how we would go about taking on South Swindon in Bloom.
Here's a photo of us meeting at Broadgreen Community Centre to discuss South Swindon in Bloom:

An invitation was given to attend a day in Chippenham hosted by the South West arm of Britain in Bloom, which Trish and I decided to attend. More of that day in the next post.
