The snow fell last Friday almost all day, blanketing Swindon in a deep layer of fluffy snow. A 'snowday' was declared and in the afternoon, there were lots of people enjoying the snow outside, with a great holiday atmosphere. Walking in the Town Gardens and along the railway line provided ample opportunity to take some photos of the snow.
I wanted to take a photo of the bandstand to replace the Christmas lights one on the Old Town Residents Association Facebook group page and found it didn't fit on the page without losing either the top spire, or the base, but the photograph of the kiosk fitted rather well so I used that.
Here it is:
I'm pleased with the bandstand photo, but I should have stood further back in order to get it into the Facebook box.
It's amazing how black and white everything looks
And how gorgeous all the trees look
I like this one of Tim near the kiosk:
Below the benches looking over to the bandstand
lots of snow on these branches
From the Town Gardens, we walked out onto Westlecot Road intending to walk back home via the disused railway line, and on the way saw the lovely spiral low hedge looking fabulous covered in snow:
The disused Old Town railway track always looks good, but in the snow looked magical, there were people sliding down slopes on trays, making snowmen and generally enjoying themselves
Above looking towards Croft Road, and below looking towards West Swindon
