Hayling Island

It was brilliant to revisit Hayling Island after a break of maybe 30 years, a couple of weekends ago on a visit to Emsworth. The day was perfect, blue skies and not very cold considering it was the last weekend in November. Friends and I walked along the south coast of Hayling Island in a westerly direction, and around the point where there was a boat race going on giving us entertainment as we watched the sail being raised on this boat while we had a coffee in that delightful snack bar on the point:
starting at the beginning by the car park, there's a very grand crescent:
and this terrace is also rather imposing
We came across a stunted oak wood before reaching open water again
Down by the water before the point, there were egrets and herons as well as lots of waders in the water. Egrets and herons were also roosting in nearby trees

You can just about see an egret in the photo below
 quite a lot of birds
and by the holiday camp these red hot pokers were splendid. I really must get some, they are radiant.
This is a super view isn't it? The beach huts are fabulously colourfully painted
Here are Lyn and Sarah, they didn't pose and I got left behind taking photos
When we got back to Emsworth, I was determined there was going to be a sunset, but there wasn't really a proper one
 some nice pinkishness though
I did like this egret at the millpond photo taken just after I'd given up on sunset photos.
