Caen Locks Devizes

Before a second visit to the Ravilious exhibition at Wiltshire Museum, Lyn suggested a walk along the canal in Devizes and said why not go to the locks? I'm ashamed to admit I hadn't walked alongside the locks before. They are spectacular, and very hard to photograph, although there are some fantastic photos here on the Canal and River Trust website. We had a tasty lunch at Caen Hill Cafe beside the canal, and then walked down past all of the locks.

maybe this is a better photo?

beside the canal, there was an almost tame heron with lots of long feathers, are they always like that I wonder? I've never seen a heron so close up.

If you want to see the Ravilious exhibition, you might just be able to do so. Last day is Sunday 30 January, tickets have sold out, but they say on the website you might be able to turn up and be allowed in.
