Plant Buying at TWIGS Community Gardens

Always keen to increase the variety of plants in our community gardens, Judith and I recently visited TWIGS and bought a very interesting selection of plants, and had a look round the gardens while we were there
Starting off in the wild area at the end of the gardens which was looking great with some magnificent purple loosestrife
then moving on to the garden with the poppy head sculptures which I love, and always try and get the perfect photo of them every time I visit
This is the first year for ages I haven't visited Pat Elmore in June, and so didn't have any Tithonia. The orange colour takes a lot of beating, it's stunning isn't it?
This is the potager garden where there's a mixture of fruit and vegetables grown together in an attractive pattern.
I photographed this grass because it reminded me that grasses get bigger and bigger in diameter and look really good if given space to breathe. Not always easy to remember when planting small specimens.
I liked the teasel heads here in among other things. The teasels at the community bed beside Mr Cod this year were so badly affected by mildew that we had to dig them out. Possibly because although the soil is quite water retentive, the area is a sun trap.
I took two photos of the willow person
and I like them both because the one above appears to have Rudbeckias in front of it, and the one below Echinaceas
I noticed a pizza oven that I hadn't noticed before
And then ended up where I always love sitting, inside the meeting room
with its new thatch.
After looking round, we bought plants for the gardens and for ourselves. I'd love to plant them out, but not much has been planted out apart from the wild carrot because it has been so dry.
Over the years, I have bought some very memorable plants from TWIGS, they always do well and look fantastic.
