A Day out in Bishopstone

It's great meeting up with friends and having a day out together. Jay, Kathy and I, friends since  school, meet up regularly, taking turns to 'host' our days out. Recently it was my turn to organise the day, so I thought we should go to  Bishopstone. Situated near the Ridgeway and Lambourn Downs, it's a perfect place for a walk with magnificent views, and only 6 miles from Swindon. We started off with a walk round the pond, and admired the chocolate box perfect thatched cottages before going to The Royal Oak for a celebratory birthday lunch. I would thoroughly recommend The Royal Oak for great atmosphere, service and food. After lunch, we walked up to the Ridgeway, enjoying the glorious skies and views.
Here are Jay and Kathy avoiding but not escaping being photographed
Here's an example of the view from the Ridgeway with Lynchets, remains of field systems found in this area, just visible in the distance.
 It was a fantastic day
There are 2 red kites in this photograph, but they can't be seen except by zooming in on the phone, I love the blue of the sky.
And the trees on the horizon make a nice picture
There are Lynchets on this hill, but not that easy to see on the photograph
The skies and trees make such a good combination.
We also saw a bank of burrowing bees outside the pub making tunnels in the sandy, dry soil
And here's one of the thatched cottages looking idyllic
Glorious day out.
