Continuing the tradition of parking a distance from where we wanted to be, I looked at the OS map of Eastbourne and noticed if we parked at Birling Gap, we could walk along the cliffs to Eastbourne. The National Trust car park at Birling Gap was almost full with people wanting to walk around there.
The weather was fine but extremely windy and so it was easy to miss this wonderful view of Birling Gap and the Seven Sisters
And here's a view of Beachy Head
The Exhibition I was keen to see at The Towner was Ravilious & Co: The Pattern of Friendship
it is a fabulous exhibition, on until 18 September, well worth a trip to Eastbourne to see it.
Once in Eastbourne, it's hard to miss the Towner's signage!!
I bought the book which the exhibition is based on. Here is a photo of the decoration around the door:
Photography isn't allowed, but here's the poster for the exhibition outside The Towner
Walking back along the headland again, I liked this view of the Beachy Head lighthouse
I was glad I'd taken a photo of the Seven Sisters in the morning because as the sun was going down, the view wasn't so magnificent.
Birling Gap was in the news this week because of a chemical cloud that threatened to damage those breathing it in: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/aug/27/birling-gap-evacuated-after-chemical-incident-on-east-sussex-coast
